A SUBCONTRACTOR phoned the Gold Coast Bulletin yesterday to say he was owed thousands of dollars by a major building company for work on a big infrastructure project.
At the close of business yesterday, the building company said it would pay the overdue money, provided the subcontractor did not talk to the media.
The payments follow a negotiation between the subcontractor and the major building company over a hefty contract.

The subcontractor alleges he was offered a settlement which was worth just part of the original contract.
“It is a bloody joke considering what they are worth,” said the subcontractor who declined to be named.
Given the delays on original payments the subcontractor said he eventually agreed to the reduced amount.
