A DYNAMIC duo of school mates has credited their decades-long friendship with helping them build a thriving Gold Coast construction outfit.
Jason Doerr and Tim Douglas met in year 4 at The Southport School, and took different career paths in the property industry — Mr Doerr as a labourer through school and then as a carpenter, and Mr Douglas moving into real estate sales and development.
“Jason and I went to school together at TSS — we’re long-time friends,” Mr Douglas said.
“Our families have lived here all their lives.
“It started with a friendship at school, we kept in contact over the years.”
It wasn’t until 2010 that a conversation about a potential development saw them combine their complementary skills to create a new suite of construction companies.
Their Australasian group incorporates Australasian Homes, Australasian Builders and Valcon Homes, between them building volume housing in large developments, retail housing for families and first home buyers and commercial jobs for aged care facilities and multi-unit residential projects.

“We have a great time, we surf and fish and our families are good friends and close,’ Mr Doerr said.
