Major Queensland building company BA Murphy Constructions has collapsed leaving scores of unfinished projects and estimated debts of at least $3m.
Benjamin Campbell and John Park, of FTI Consulting, were appointed liquidators of the Sunshine Coast company on Tuesday afternoon ending weeks of uncertainty over its future.
According to documents lodged with ASIC, the company’s directors had “formed the view that the company was insolvent and unable to pay its debts when they became due.”
The collapse follows weeks of speculation that the company was facing financial stress in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
