Fighting for subbies rights
Further update with the extension of the suspension of trading for the parent company Onterran while they divest their building arm.
The QBCC have allowed Bloomer Constructions Pty Ltd to continue with their plan to novate projects and move forward but with a number of restrictions placed on their licence.
This is a positive step for subcontractors and suppliers.
These negotiations are extremely complicated. It's a unique, multi faceted situation involving:
- Clients
- QBCC
- Financiers - banks
- Insurers
- Subcontractors
- Suppliers
- Staff
- Accountants
- Lawyers
- A publicly listed parent company
Where it ends I don't know but it's a step in the right direction when compared to what the alternative was a month ago.
Some subcontractors are now working again and payments are starting to flow.
Read the previous update in regard to subbies payments and jobs continuing.
For too long subcontractors have been at the bottom of the building industry food chain but SubbiesUnited, Subcontractors Alliance and project bank accounts will help change that.
See licence restrictions below.
