Fighting For Subbies Rights
Les Williams from Subcontractors Alliance has done some amazing things for subbies over the past 5 years but of his achievements, there haS been none more important than lobbying the Labor Government to fund the public examinations of the liquidated Cullen Group and Q1 Homes.
We will not know the full extent of the benefit to Subcontractors and Suppliers until long after the dust settles on these examinations but we are confident there will be ramifications for anyone who has done something illegal.
These liquidations caused untold hardship to over 700 subbies and suppliers with another 40 subbies being sued for voidable preferences to make it twice as hard for them.
ABC STORY
Two of these subbies had the guts to speak up yesterday after we were contacted by ABC journalist Josh Bavas, we put him in touch with Hayden and Tom.
The more media attention shone on these thefts of our money by pigs at the trough, the sooner builders will think twice before washing away all their debt because no one wants the type "drill down" scrutiny that a public examination will do on every aspect of these crimes against creditors.

Just one point I would like to make is its not The QBCC contributing $300,000, they are government funds administered through the QBCC.
A public examination will be held into the collapse of two major Queensland construction companies which the Government says left hundreds of small businesses, subcontractors and suppliers unpaid.
Key points:
- Cullen Group and One Home collapsed, owing creditors millions
- The State Government says small businesses and subcontractors bore the brunt
- A $300,000 inquiry by the regulator will seek to find out where the money went
The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) is contributing $300,000 for inquiries into both Cullen Group and Queensland One Homes, which are said to have had "significant" ramifications on the construction industry.
Cullen Group collapsed in December 2016, leaving 500 creditors owed more than $18 million, while Queensland One Homes was left owing $6 million when it went into liquidation in July 2017.
