The director of a failed construction company convicted of fraud has had his licence reissued by the building watchdog despite earlier being given a “lifetime ban.”
Adam Copping was a director of Brisbane-based Trac Construction that collapsed in 2016 leaving a string of uncompleted high-rise projects around the city and creditors out of pocket to the tune of $20m.
A senior executive of the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) told subbies in 2019 that Mr Copping had been permanently excluded along with fellow director Thomas Rook from being a director or senior executive of a building firm or from holding a contractor or nominee supervisor licence.
In a letter to subcontractors in March 2019, QBCC director of licensing services Ian Grant confirmed both Mr Copping and Mr Rook were permanently excluded in 2016 from holding senior roles in the industry.
