The liquidator of a major construction group says it used a $6.49m invoice, which was later effectively cancelled, to obtain a builder licence for a new company set up in the name of the founder’s wife.
Heinrich Constructions, which changed its name to Starcrest Constructions the day before it entered administration in February owes more than $15 million, mostly to subcontractors and the tax office.
Other companies in the group owe tens of millions more.
