THE 43-year-old Sunstate Awnings has collapsed with the loss of 35 jobs in the latest sign of deteriorating conditions in the manufacturing industry.
Gavin Morton, of Morton’s Solvency Accountants, was on Monday appointed liquidator of Coopers Plains-based Sunstate Solutions Pty, which trades as Sunstate Awnings.
Founded in 1976, Sunstate manufactured awnings, shutters and screens for residential and commercial customers in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Mr Morton said there would be an orderly wind down of the business with some staff being employed temporarily to complete orders.
He said the business had experienced losses over several years and the director was not prepared to continue to absorb those losses.
