Open Letter to Hon Mick De Brenni

This message is in regard to openness and accountability in the Qld Building Industry. Openness and accountability are foreign to Government but the question should be asked anyway.

Good morning Mick

"The LNP have committed to a Royal Commission into corruption in the Queensland building industry as part of their election policy.

It is my understanding that Katter Party and One Nation will join with the LNP in supporting a Royal Commission.

The level of corruption within the Qld Building industry and the building regulator (QBCC) is known by you and the Palaszczuk Government.

Will you give an election commitment to establish a Royal Commission into corruption in the Qld Building industry and the role played by the QBCC and Qld Ombudsman?"

Mick De Brenni said he had subbies backs so what has he done to protect them in the past 4 years?

Long suffering subbies are still waiting Mick, its only been 4 years so I guess we can wait a little longer.

One area that needs investigating is the incompetence of public servants.

There is corruption in the building industry on a grand scale.
However, the most damaging things being done to the subcontractors arises out of entrenched incompetence.
An example is JM Kelly, the public servants were more than likely not corrupt, just incompetent or reckless.

Then there is 18 billion dollar CRCG Rimfire licence granted by the QBCC on 18th August 2016.

With the stroke of a pen some genius in the QBCC granted the biggest builders licence in Australian history. I assume that person then went home, had a nice wine with dinner and then back to work the next day to make more diabolical decisions.

A little over a year later an Administrator was appointed.

There is no evidence of corrupt payment but that person did nothing to ensure the QBCC had the ability to recover the 1 billion surety offered by CRCG in the worthless deed of covenant because the money was in China if it existed at all.

The issue is that there has not been any sort of consequence for these people on big money doing stupid things. They make these mindless decisions then go about their business while subbies suffer millions of dollars in losses.

Then look at the trade associations coercing Mick De Brenni to postpone project bank accounts, now thats just dumb at a time when subbies need that protection more than ever.

Mick trade associations are not Labor's base, subbies are, give that some thought next time you have them whispering in your ear about something that can only be beneficial to them.

The question has to be asked Mick, why do you pander to the Master Builders? They spread the word through the industry that you are just another Union puppet.

Does anyone in Government care about fixing one of Queensland biggest industries?

Based on past performances, I would have to say no Mick but we are happy to send out your reply to our many thousands of subscribers.

ABOUT US

SubbiesUnited is not “anti builder”, we support strong builders.
We are “anti theft” of hard working subbies money.

It’s not just about the builders who go broke, businesses all over Australia Liquidate every day for a variety of reasons.

It’s about the ones that engage in calculated criminal behaviour such as providing false information to the regulators or inducing subbies to work on a site when they know they cannot or are not going to pay them because of a fraudulent scheme. Its about the participation of the banks, pre insolvency advisors and builder appointed Liquidators to fraudulently defeat creditors.

Liquidators should always be appointed by creditors to ensure a thorough investigation takes place.

We want the rogues investigated and prosecuted for fraud.

  • SubbiesUnited was created to provide subbies with collaborative information on building companies that are showing signs of insolvency or struggling to pay their creditors. The signs are always there, we just need to get the message to each other before it happens.
  • We provide subbies with up to date news on builders in Administration or Liquidation and the best strategies to get a return.
  • There are some extremely litigious builders out there who would rather sue you than pay you. Often they sue you so they don’t have to pay you. We will expose them.
  • The construction industry is renowned for building companies setting up illegal Phoenix operations, shifting assets, then liquidating sending subbies broke. We work with other subcontractor & supplier organisations & Governments to stop what amounts to legalised theft on a massive scale though pre packaged liquidations. Insolvency is used as a means to defraud Subbies.
  • Our aim is to limit the financial damage before it happens with our “members only forum”, an early warning system for the benefit of all our members.
